Global Sport Sunday
“Sport has the power to change the world” – Nelson Mandela
We believe that all big spiritual movements start with prayer. That’s why with the Global Sports Sunday we want to answer to the call of Jesus in Luke 10:2 “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the lord of the harvest therefore to send out workers into his fields.”
On Global Sports Sunday we are calling on the body of Christ worldwide to pray for the world of sports… the most extraordinary untapped mission field in the world today!
Sport has a significant impact on cultures around the world. On average, more than half of the world’s population participates in a sports community weekly… not to mention the number of people who regularly come into contact with sports through media and other sources. Parents, trainers, fans and volunteers all are touched by the power of sport.
Therefore, through Global Sports Sunday, we want to help Christian communities worldwide to pray for-, connect with- and serve within the world of sport. Officially this year in 2023 Global sports Sunday is September 17th, but if that doesn’t work, then we’d like to encourage you to choose any Sunday during the rugby world cup that suits your church !
